About MetaMaster
Welcome to MetaMaster! We're a platform for TCG enthusiasts to create, share, and manage custom card sets and decks. We believe in collaboration and making the TCG community better for everyone.
Platform Concepts
Understanding the core concepts of MetaMaster will help you get the most out of the platform.
Core Concepts
Meta
A Meta is a top-level collection that defines a format, rules, and deck size limits. It contains multiple Sets and serves as the organizational structure for your TCG content.
Set
A Set is a collection of Cards within a Meta. Sets can be themed around specific Pokemon types, eras, or custom concepts. Each Set belongs to one Meta.
Card
Individual Pokemon, Trainer, or Energy cards that belong to a Set. Cards can be submitted by users and require approval from Set owners.
Deck
A Deck is a collection of Cards (typically 40 or 60 cards) built for gameplay. Decks can be standalone or connected to a Meta/Set. Energy cards have no quantity limit.
Format vs Archetype
Format
A Format defines the rules and card pool for a Meta. Formats determine which cards are legal, rotation rules, and competitive structure.
Archetype
An Archetype describes a deck's playstyle and strategy. It's how the deck is played, not which format it belongs to.

Platform Limits
To ensure fair usage and maintain platform quality, MetaMaster has default limits on content creation. These limits help prevent abuse while allowing active community members to contribute meaningfully.
Default Limits
The following are the default limits for all users:
Maximum number of metas you can create
1
Maximum sets you can create in your own metas

Deck Limits
Deck limits are set per meta by the meta owner:

- Card Quantity: Maximum 4 copies of the same card (except Energy cards, which have no limit)
- Unbound Decks: Some metas allow unlimited deck sizes
